Sometimes A Girl Just Needs One..

Britney couldn't have said it better. I've been a little masculine obsessed lately but I partially blame my haircut and new outlook on daily clothing choices. I have really been taking advantage of wearing more masculine-inpsired clothing since I got my hair cut a few months ago and though I don't really have proof to show you guys (5439473th time venting on not having a camera) I figured I would dedicate a post to males and masculine clothing!

Just about the only up to date photo that shows how I've been dressing. Button ups and slacks all day everyday. Buttoned up to the top!

Le sigh.

This was my favorite photo shoot from all the seasons of America's Next Top Model I've seen! I haven't watched the last 5 or so (I got a little tired of it honestly) but this photo in particular ALWAYS stuck out to me! She was beautifully androgynous!

Another model with a beautifully androgynous face! I won't say much about Omahyra because I frequently use her for inspiration and I don't want to overkill her.

I had to include Hermes' Fall 2011 line.  Best believe I'd walk down the streets of Atlanta look like this. Bowler hat and all.

One of my favorite men from the fashion world. I'm currently waiting for a dress with his face and his famous icon the skull printed on front, to come in the mail that I found on Etsy. RIP Mr. Queen.

Just another inspiration photo of how I have been feeling lately!
Another one of my favorite men in the game! Oh how I love your clothing and ads Monsieur Ford.  I've been OD'ing on his ads lately. See above lol.

I love love love the angle effect on this photo! But aside from that my masculine hype has made me want to go out and but another pantsuit. I already have two (one from BCBG and one from H&M) but it's not enough!
This is my friend Mike! I've known him since my first year at SCAD and I have always admired his style! Believe me when I say he dresses like this literally everyday. It's so nice to know guys that have classic personal style!

Alright I had to throw Robin in there. His style is all cool, classy and effortless. I think that's what has been getting me the most. I'm so tired of fussy clothing! Guys have it good. Oh! And I've been getting more hair tips from other guys than I have ladies. I was watching Alfie the other day and literally taking notes!

Clean and Crisp.

Jane Aldridge's Chanel pumps! Check out her blog if you don't already know it! seaofshoes.typepad.com

I want all of the men in my life to dress somewhat like this. I'm so glad that a good handful of them already do!

Armani has done it again. Clean. Sexy. Mysterious.

Gah I love Tom Ford.

Valentino Man. A good type of man.

I know her eyes aren't anything special but I can't stop staring at them! Maybe its because I want smoky eye to look like this on me :( Don't get me wrong, I know how to do smoky eye. I just don't have light eyes or the same eyelids so it doesn't look like this on me. Oh how I wish it did.

The colors are gorgeous. Yes Zara!

Foto Shoooooooooot.

So I had an awesome fantabulous photo shoot yesterday night for my portfolio! I haven't seen many of the finished photos yet but here are some that I've seen so far!!

One of my best friends TemiTayo! (Yeah she's as lovely as her name, if you were wondering). She agreed to help me by modeling for the shoot!

This beauty is Nea! She wants to start modeling more and technically this was her first successful photo shoot! I'm SO excited to use her again!

This pretty lady is my friend Carley-Beth! I've been wanting to use her for forever and I finally got my chance! I love how I had models of all colors, shades, and hair colors! I want my portfolio to be diverse, you know?

This. Pose. Is. AWESOME. I want to put this pose in my mental roledex for Carley-Beth. If only she was wearing all black and the background was more simple! But oh well, it was unexpected. I know for next time ^_^

I was going for Cirque du Soleil inspired makeup with Katrina!
Katrina being silly.

I'm so doing a part II of this shoot! Everyone had so much fun and everyone met someone new!

I'm An Awful Blogger. Good Lord.

Yeah, what the title says. There's been SO many days in past couple of weeks where I wish I had a camera so I could take photos of my outfits and outfits I've seen in public (I just saw an awesome one here at Starbucks about 20 minutes ago- the girl had on these GORGEOUS Miu Miu platforms; I had to give her praise!) but alas, I don't have a camera and having friends take photos just never happened :( But! I have been doing a lot of MUA work and modeling work so I figure I will post some photos from what has been happening.

Does she look like a Barbie? That's because she is! A disposed Barbie in the mud, that is ;) (PROPS TO AMIE BRINK A FANTABULOUS PHOTOGRAPHER! She's quite gifted with concepts for photo shoots!!!)

My sexy friend Brittney! I had SO much fun doing her makeup! I have the honor of being the only other lady to do her face besides her- she doesn't trust anyone doing her makeup haha!)

You guys remember her? This is Katrina from posts forever ago (remember the mirror shades and the blue monster? Yeah that's her).
This is just the beginning of my portfolio! I have three more shoots coming up in the next two days! SO excited ^_^

By the way...

From December to now (JUST 4 MONTHS) I've had over 3500 collective views and 63 different countries around the world look at the blog.

^_^

^_^

^_^

You guys are awesome.

                                                                             Friggin'
                                                                               you guys.

I haven't posted in FOREVER I know.

Yeah, um. A lot has gone on between the 7th and now but it's WAY too long for one post. I'll break it down later. The main reason why I haven't posted in forever is because I haven't had photos taken of my outfits and I've been dying to do a post like that. Oh well. I'll settle for these.

You can see my back tattoo :) It says "Dress shabbily, and you'll notice the dress. Dress impeccably and you'll notice the woman." My favorite quote by Coco Chanel ^_^

You can't see me! Jk, dress is from Forever 21 and necklace is from Pinkheart.

ON MY GRIND..

Sooo I just counted...I've done 16 photo shoots in the past three weeks and 11 of them I did makeup, hair and/or styling. Now I need to start matching some dollar signs to some of those jobs... >:)

I'm feelin' it, I'm tastin' it...

Sooo there's been some changes in my appearance in the past two weeks. Of course I'm nowhere near done (self-proclaimed tattoo and piercing addict) but its got me thinking about appearance in general. I'm   ALWAYS thinking about clothes, trends, looks, etc. but I'm just starting to randomly think of appearance (by which I mean, hair, makeup, clothes, shoes = overall look) instead of the individual pieces. Definitely helps with what I want to do for a living :)

Of course Alexander McQueen had to make it in here somewhere...

I really wish I could wear pieces like this.

Hair = awesome. Have I mentioned mine is purple now? c:

I want to recreate this on my nails!

I've been experimenting with dark eyes and red lips like this, and I want to master an everyday form of it for myself. Since my hair is short and my bangs come to the middle of my forehead, all of the emphasis is on my face which means I have an excuse to go berserk with makeup! But I want a good classic look that I can always fall back on :)

I'll probably be blogging throughout the day folks, right now I'm finishing up the photo shoot :) I'm so excited for my portfolios! I've added three looks in the past week to my makeup one and I'm doing two model shoots this week :D Have a good Sunday!

MAKEUP PORT PREVIEW!

This is just a preview of my makeup portfolio :) I don't just model! I do makeup hair and styling too!

I'm actually at a photo shoot right now and I did makeup once again! More of my work will go up soon  ;)

MS. WEK

Okay, so I have been an absolutely terrible blogger, I apologize immensely!! The internet in my apartment just decided to stop working (that's still no excuse though, there's plenty of Borders and Starbucks around for me to work at, not to mention school -___-). I am supposed to be doing posts on influential black individuals in the fashion industry. Today, my lady of choice is African model Alek Wek!

The Sudanese-British model was born April 16, 1977 as the seventh of nine children in Wau, Sudan. She is of the Dinka ethnic group in southern Sudan, and she says her name means "the black spotted cow". In 1991, her and a few family members escaped the Civil War in Sudan to Britain where she was discovered by a Models 1 scout at Crystal Palace in London.

She was signed to Ford Models in 1996 and has done ads for Victoria's Secret, Issey Miyake, Moschino and Clinique (which is pretty awesome for Clinique because her skin is quite dark and for those of you who don't have dark skin, finding makeup to match it is quite a feat!) She has walked the runway for LaCroix (acting as the center bride on a few occasions),  John Galliano, Donna Karan, Chanel, Shiatzy Chen, Calvin Klein, and more.

In addition to modeling, this talented woman also designs a line of handbags called "Wek 1933" which can be available through Selfridges stores. The inspiration for the bags came from the brass-clasp briefcase her father would always carry for work, and naturally the date 1933 corresponds to the year her father was born.
